Divine Rivals book review

I have seen this book EVERYWHERE so knew I had to read it and absolutely loved it. While it’s not one of my absolute favourite books of the year I definitely do need to go back and annotate my copy.

If you don’t already know what Divine Rivals is about it follows two journalists, a war between gods and anonymous corespondance. There is magic, letters and great friendships.

I listened to the audiobook of this and it was fantastic, both Iris and Roman have different narrators and it made the listening experience absolutely fantastic. I’m not always an audiobook person but I’m so glad I picked up the audiobook for this one because with the letters between the characters, I had a great time.

I LOVED the romance in this and the build up between the characters. Atti and Marisol are some of my favourite side characters (and build up the best friendship with Iris). Roman and Iris are fantastic characters on their own and together and I can’t wait to see what will happen with them in Ruthless Vows (but I have a feeling I’ll cry).

As someone that loves history and has learned a lot about WW1 over recent time I loved the war aspect and how much of it felt like it was based on WW1. I love historical fiction but I don’t read as much as I’d like to due to how much history I do at school so this made a nice change - it had many war aspects I like but was different enough that it didn’t feel too much like school history lessons to me.

I love the book but I don’t like what a specific character did at the end. Not in a way that brought my rating down but more that I didn’t like his actions and he really needs to do a bit to redeem himself in Ruthless Vows.

Overall, I highly recommend this if you haven’t already read it and am really looking forward to finishing the duology. An easy 5 stars.

The Christmas Book Club book review

I read a Sarah Morgan Christmas book during Advent last year and as soon as I heard about this book I knew I had to read it and the timings for it worked out perfectly for me to read about 15 pages a day during December until Christmas Eve when I finished it. This isn’t a romance book as such but it still has all the feels that the Christmas romance books do. The story follows four different women and has their POVs throughout, Hattie owns the inn, and Anna, Erica and Claudia meet up every year for a book club holiday. There is such a cosy feel in this book and I just loved reading it. The friendship between Anna, Erica and Claudia is so strong and I’d love to have a friendship like that, they are there for each other no matter what and each brings something different to the table. They are all going through something during the book and need each other’s support and that support really is perfect. Also by the end of the book, they have all grown as people especially when faced w...

The Off-Limits Rule book review

I discovered Sarah Adams in early 2024 after it was recommended to me on Bookstagram and while she wasn’t originally an author I was sure about, however as I read more from her I fell in love with her books and she definitely became a favourite auto-buy author. My last traditionally published backlist series I had to read going into 2025 was It Happens in Nashville duology, the first book being The Off-Limits Rule.  The Off-Limits Rule follows Lucy who has moved her and her son back in with her brother who has made it clear that his best friend, Cooper, is off-limits to her however Lucy has gotten a different impression of Cooper to what Drew has told her about him and maybe it’s okay to break the rule sometimes, right? As soon as I started this book I was reminded of exactly why I love Sarah Adams books so much. I was invested in Lucy’s character and hooked by the story. I enjoyed all of the characters and found it to be a book that I could not put down.  The romance w...

The Match book review

Back in April I was recommended my first Sarah Adams book and really enjoyed it however it wasn’t my favourite type of romance book so when I saw this one had been rereleased and was 99p on Kindle I knew that I needed to read it.  The Match follows Evie who works for a company that trains service dogs to help people with all sorts of disabilities after her life was changed when she got a service dog to help with her epilepsy and when she meets Jacob when trying to convince him how much a service dog would help his daughter she begins to fall for him and his small family.  This was such a light brilliant romance that I just wanted to read and continue to be immersed in the story for as long as I could. I loved all of our major characters particularly Evie, Jacob and Sam (Jacob's daughter). Sam just added the best things to the story and the romance going on between Evie and Jacob. She was also a brilliant character on her own that you really felt for and you just underst...
