This book was horrifying, heartbreaking and excellent. I'm so glad I read no matter how upset it made me.
I loved this book! There was so much too love and I loved it all, I had nothing I could fault with it. No matter how heartbreaking I found this book, I am so glad I read it and did love it.
I felt so bad for all the characters, every time something happened to them and what happened to Max and Elsa. I was close to tears.
I think a lot of the way I feel is down to Liz Kessler's excellent writing. It described everything perfectly - it wasn't too descriptive or horrifying but at the same time it didn't try to hide anything or make the Holocaust seem better than it was because of the target audience.
Highly recommend and think everyone should read, especially readers that are in the in between with YA and Middle Grade.
I know this review was short but it felt right that way.
